Looks pretty good. Just curious is the face high or, low poly?

I didn't make this model, I ripped it from the game.. it's a direct rip from breath of the wild that Im modifying for MMD
gyazo.com/b30f5f0a76faed7acba7…
heres his Wireframe.. id say hes somewhere in the middle IMO

Thanks seems kinda dissappointing that Nintendo went with what I would call 2 console generation poly models ago .

to be fair, BOTW is a very polished and clean looking and it does have to render a lot on screen at once
its stylized and looks pretty good in game IMO, sort of like how wind waker still holds up to me, but i get what youre saying...

May I point out starfox on gamecube did more on most parts than, breath of the wild used Nvidia and real time furr, hair, water, and grass effects almost a decade before, this game and, use a bit more higher poly. As well lip sync and, what the breath of the wild did but , just stronger effects and, higher models in comparision. It used bump mapping while botw doesn't and, looks ok at best.

So I'm not even impressed with the game personally . .

true, that game was very beautiful, too... But another thing is that BOTW is open world...
personally, I don't really care about graphics much.. i dont think high poly is necessary when youre making a game with cartoony cel shaded graphics

The only real issue with open worl games is how full is open world games be honest. Skyrim and, plenty oth games going for the massive worlds use up more data for less not really doing much with it.

It would have been better Nintendo actually made more in depth dundeons and, actually challange people with more thought put in than a open worrld that copy past so many repeat assets pretending to be big when it's really not.

Sure a nice open world for zelda is welcomed but, how much did it really improve upon the zelda engine. Considering botw really borrows from other series and, copy ideas from other Non nintendo games. If anything they could have made a 3d remake of the 4 swords and, make a just as good experience.

From what I played and, now seeing how low the details are. Seeing a model like this on a hd or, higher res tv removing the effects masking things. It's not a well done game. The only really think it the gameplay limits what you can really do .

if you look at the game data Nintendo uses to take up data the game is probbbly 2/3 the size of the full game.

How adorable!

Do you have to have a physical copy of the game to rip models? I have a digital copy on my Wii U (NOT the switch) and when I asked for help they told me run gcmdump, and I tried that but it just opened a command prompt for a second on two and then did nothing.

Thank you!
I have a physical copy that I ripped, then decrypted & extracted on my PC... its also the type of files that you use to run on CEMU
Being told to use gcmdump is a start, but it's a lot more detailed than that...
I like to keep my complete detailed methods private, but ill give you some basic information to help you start:
after unpacking & decrypting the game, take the .sbfres of the model & corresponding texture
'decrypt' both using yaz0dec, which essentially converts it to a usable & more common wiiu file format
Also, make sure you have the correct version of python, that may be where the command prompt problem comes in...
It helps to also be proficient in programs such as blender and 3dsmax...

I had to double check the title cause I wasn't sure this was for MMD

I'd thought from the thumbnail that someone had completely modeled him already but you ripped it? This fanbase sure does work fast!!

I'll be sure to keep tabs on this, because this already looks impressive!!

ripping models from video games is a hobby of mine.. i think im going to make this a private model though just because the fanbase unnerves me, so people will have to send me a note for the DL...

It's a very neat hobby, that's for sure!! I don't now much about ripping or rigging but from the preview it seems like you're doing a great job thus far. And I can understand that, every fandom has it's weirdos who take things too far. My friend does most of her model distributions in the same way that way you can keep tabs on who would use the model well and respect the character

AH thank you so much! Ill send you a note as soon as hes finished! Im going to (try to) add more facial expressions and give him physics on some parts before I release.. other than that, hes practically finished..

Oh!! Thank you very much! Making facials is a pain, but if the model has facial bones it can be a bit easier. I'm learning how to do model ports from programs like XPS/XNA and I would be lost trying to make facials without the bones. Does he have his in-game bones and rigging or are you having to do it all from scratch? Either way it's very impressive

He has facial bones.. a LOT of them, actually... i.gyazo.com/c75291182d4fcccb40… shouldnt be too hard, but itll take about an hour to get all the facial expressions he needs.. (the basic a e i o & smile/frown, eye stuff too But i think ill just do blinking for now)

A model that I was considering converting a while ago has this many facial bones fav.me/daxiaa2 safe to say I rethought my plans of converting models from that game because trying to make smooth facials for MMD using that would be more of a headache than its worth. I find making facials oddly therapeutic, I guess because it's something to focus on? The basic facials are the best to start with of course.

This model is my first real attempt at making serious facials, but it was after a lot of unshown practice. fav.me/db0bn4j I still think I could have done more for it

If i wanted to rip a model with THAT many facial bones, id probably delete most of them and then weight the remaning bones to control those parts of the face so it'd be less cluttered.. then just use meshio to export as a PMX and work from there...
I find ripping models theraputic as Well... ive made original models too , but im not sure if I'll ever post them...
Looks good to Me tho.. You can always go back and update models!!
